PERSHORE and Evesham meet in a Midlands Three West (South) local derby clash at Piddle Park on Saturday (2.15pm).
With the sides sitting third and fourth respectively in the table, there is plenty at stake in this derby.
Pershore were without a game last weekend after their clash at Cheltenham North was postponed but Evesham will be looking to build on their 48-5 victory at bottom side Redditch, which featured a Zac Reid hat-trick.
The match was due to be hosted by Evesham but switched to Redditch because the pitches at Albert Road were waterlogged. It is hoped they will be playable this weekend.
Evesham started strongly and quick hands from centre James Bowen released Darren Hunter for a score.
After good turnover ball by Evesham’s Alex Jackson and Ben Dziczkaniece, Simon Corbett released his back line for Reid to score in the corner. The Vale men weren’t done there and solid scrummaging from Kerren Lippett and Stewart Stock gave a good platform to allow Bowen to jink through for a converted score at 17-0.
Redditch began the secondhalf strongly, however, Evesham got a grip on the game and were once again rewarded when Jackson powered through three tackles to touch down under the posts for Mike Diston to convert.
The onslaught continued and solid line-out ball from Sam Garrett and Stuart Smart set up Stefan Lasota to score under the posts, Diston converting.
Reid was on the scoresheet after a clever kick from Diston led to a foot race which was never in doubt.
Hunter got his second after good ruck ball from the forwards gave space on the blindside and he rounded the full-back to touch down for a converted score.
The next try saw Corbett and Diston exchanging passes to release Lasota, who found Reid for his hat-trick.
Redditch did grab a late consolation score.
