CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon will enter the prolific Pete The Feat in Saturday’s Classic Chase at Warwick.

The nine-year-old has won five in a row, rising 40lb in the handicap, since joining his new trainer from Anna Newton- Smith’s yard.

His latest victory in the Mandarin Chase at Newbury on December 29 was typically comprehensive.

Meanwhile, The New One is set for a return in Warwick’s Neptune Investment Management Leamington Novices’ Hurdle.

Winner of five of his six races under Rules, the Cotswold horse’s only defeat came at last year’s Cheltenham Festival when sixth in the bumper.

He has made an impressive start over hurdles with two victories but a minor setback kept him off the track since October.

  • At Plumpton, Tony McCoy took the At The Races Sky 415 Novices’ Hurdle on Jonjo O’Neill’s Mr Watson (11-10 favourite), the same horse who gave him a nasty facial injury at Wetherby earlier this season.

He totally outclassed his opposition, beating stablemate Get Back In Line by eight lengths.

Longsdon’s Newton Tonic also enjoyed success at Plumpton by five lengths priced at 5-1.

  • Chipping Norton’s Andrew Martin marked the second year of his Rules licence with a fine Lingfield victory.

Resolute Sunny Ledgend (5-1) defied the 2-5 favourite Maringo Bay in the Marsh Green Beginners’ Chase at the Surrey course.

Martin, who has trained point-to-pointers, put his son James aboard as he battled to a length-and-aquarter ahead of the market leader, ridden by the experienced Sam Thomas.
