Treble for Russell in away draw

PERSHORE suffered an ENER-G Men’s Hockey League West Midlands Division Two promotion blow after a 4-4 draw at Barlaston.

On a chilly day, the visitors failed to raise the first-half temperature despite having most of the possession.

Barlaston took the lead after 20 minutes with Mike Doust turning a cross into his own net.

Pershore fell three goals behind before Gareth Rushton reduced the arrears with a deft finish at a penalty corner.

Hat-trick hero Russell Scudamore proved the saviour in the second-half, pouncing on a rebound from an Anthony Handley strike before levelling with a surging run and shot.

Barlaston regained the lead only for Scudamore to level again from a penalty corner.

Pershore ladies beat Worcester thirds 6-1 in a friendly through Emma Gardner (5) and Kate Adams.
