Ellarby on target in win for Badsey

BADSEY maintained their 100 per cent start to 2013 with a well-deserved 4-0 win over Bromsgrove seconds in Worcestershire Women’s League Division One.

The hard work of Badsey’s pacey midfield gave them early control with fine distribution from Kay Amphlett and Nikki Wright.

Laura Moore, Sarah Rickey, Shelly Banner and player- of-the-match Karen Moore pressured the visitors on the flanks.

But there was only one goal in the first period after good skills and persistence from Wright at a short corner routine.

The hosts suffered a lull in the second period but their defenders kept focus and made some great interceptions.

Badsey stepped up the gears again and Lynne Ellarby scored from a wellworked short-corner routine before, after a fine run, Laura Moore found Banner who then netted from close range.

Rickey completed the scoring at another short corner following good work by Karen Robinson and Amphlett.

Badsey travel to leaders Worcester second on Saturday (10am).

They comfortably beat Ludlow 3-0 the previous weekend with second-half goals from Robinson, Banner and Amphlett. Rickey was player- of-the-match.
