COTSWOLD dressage rider Nickie Maddaford must wait until March 11 to see if she has qualified for the winter national championships.
She finished fourth with Alfiero in the novice freestyle to music semi-finals at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire, and hopes to make April’s finals at Hartpury, Gloucestershire.
They also managed 11th in the elementary section.
Both categories were hotly contested and, given her horses had only been back in work for two-and-a-half weeks after the weatherenforced break, Maddaford was delighted.
Younger horse Lou Bega I gained valuable experience but was not placed.
Maddaford is based at Broadland Equestrian, near Broadway, and Alfiero is a six-year-old Holstein gelding.
