Junior round up
THE Ambassador Evesham League Cup finalists were decided in two age groups.
Table-toppers Fladbury proved too strong for Bidford Juniors in the under 18s competition as they kept up their 100 per cent record with a 9-1 victory.
The other tie saw a much tighter affair as Broadway United Youth won 2-0 at home to a spirited Drakes Broughton Rangers side.
Fladbury and Broadway meet in the final on Wednesday, April 24, at Evesham United’s Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium (7pm).
Both under 16s semis fell victim to the weather and will be played on Saturday.
In the under 15s, Alveston caused an upset as they edged a tight encounter 1-0 against league leaders Tewkesbury Town Colts.
Second-placed Evesham United Colts overcame Broadway United Youth 3-1 and the final should be on Saturday, April 27, at Evesham United.
- EVESHAM United earned a Central Warwickshire Girls’ Under 18s Open Cup final place against Wolves after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Coventry City.
Speedy wingers Sophie Griffiths and Hannah Lowerson looked dangerous on the break before Hannah Watts, Millie Meadows and Hannah Kedward took a grip on the midfield.
Zoe Pygott opened the scoring from Watts’ pass on 20 minutes and Hannah Campbell added the second with Evesham goalkeeper Clare Hampton making a fine save to keep a clean sheet.
