Amphlett is among scorers in Badsey

BADSEY delivered one of their best team displays of the season with a convincing 5-1 win at Harborne thirds in Worcestershire League Division One.

They made the breakthrough when Fi Jordan powered in a short-corner strike that the home defender could only help into the net.

But Harborne stepped up the pressure to draw level when a hopeful ball played into the circle was deflected past goalkeeper Zoe Hodgkins by one of her own defenders.

The visitors had to withstand pressure but fine defending and good keeping by player-of-the-match Hodgkins kept their opponents at bay.

The Vale women gained the upper hand in the contest and Kay Amphlett swept the ball into the net from a short corner following good work by Lynne Ellarby and Sarah Rickey.

Ellarby got Badsey’s third with a fierce strike at a short corner before Karen Robinson made it four before halftime when she converted a Rickey cross.

The only goal of the second period saw Sarah Rickey make a further strong run and put in another great cross for her mother Jane to score.

Badsey travel to Stourport thirds for their penultimate game of the campaign on Saturday.
