Uttoxeter double is sealed in fine style

NAUNTON’S Nigel Twiston- Davies capped a fine week with a Uttoxeter double through Hunters Lodge and Kaylif Aramis.

After the trainer enjoyed two winners at Cheltenham Festival, Hunters Lodge landed the Betfred ‘The Bonus King’ Novices’ Handicap Chase in Staffordshire.

Minutes after his brother Willy won a Listed race on the Flat at Lingfield, jockey Sam-Twiston-Davies brought the 85-40 chance home by 19 lengths from Firebird Flyer.

Kaylif Aramis (9-4 favourite) triumphed by six lengths, again under Sam Twiston-Davies, in the Betfred Mobile Lotto Handicap Hurdle.

  • Pendra will be a novice chaser next season after struggling when sent off favourite for the Coral Cup at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

The five-year-old, who lost his unbeaten record in the Grade One Tolworth Hurdle, was fancied under a lenient racing weight on his first start for new owner JP McManus.

However, having been held up, Pendra faded up the hill and finished 17th.

Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon said: “He’ll be going over fences next year which is very exciting.”

Meanwhile, Ready Token (3-1 second-favourite) won for Longsdon at Southwell by a neck under jockey Kielan Woods.
