Dramatic win for Bretforton

BRETFORTON pulled off a dramatic 4-3 victory over title hopefuls Salisbury in their first game back in West Clubs Women’s League Premier Division ‘2A’.
The Vale side went three goals up in the first-half through Sophie Hamilton, player-of-the-match Terri Brown and Tess Lewinton.
Salisbury fought back with two goals and added another after Lisa Workman made it 4-2 but Bret hung on.
- Badsey began their Worcestershire League Division One campaign with a 3-1 win over Tenbury.
Player-of-the-match Karen Robinson put them in front but Tenbury levelled before half-time.
Zoe Hodgkins put them ahead from close range before Lynne Ellarby crowned the win 10 minutes from time.
- Promoted Pershore started life in Worcestershire League Division One with a 3-3 draw against Worcester seconds.
Despite falling behind, Kate Adams slotted home Kelly Jones’ pass to level.
Worcester opened a 3-1 lead, but Emma Gardner reduced the deficit with a crisp strike and then equalised after quick thinking by Zoe Nicholson.
The men’s firsts open their West Midlands League Division Two campaign at Barlaston on Saturday.
- Evesham drew 1-1 at Kidderminster in preparation for Saturday’s West Midlands Men’s League Division Two opener at Newtown.
Midfielders Mark Dufty, Liam Blondon and Martin Husbands helped sustain early pressure and kept the keeper busy.
The hosts came back but good defending from Jamie Powell and Ashley Padfield kept the score goalless.
A defensive error allowed Kidderminster to go ahead.
Evesham pressed hard and Blondon finished from a tight angle.
A mixed Evesham side beat Sherborne 5-2 after building up a 4-1 lead in the first-half.
Mark Sadler opened the scoring but Sherborne levelled.
David Trevorrow, Andy Osborne and Scott Ricketts put Evesham in control before a more even second period.
Megan Betteridge and Rachel Sadler shone as the defence was only breached once, while Andy Turner scored for Evesham.
