Lockey is sidecar champion

MORETON-in-Marsh racer Wayne Lockey, with passenger Luke Capewell, has been crowned BMCRC Formula 2 sidecar champion.
However, he had to do it the hard way after borrowing an engine management system to take part in the championship finale at Brands Hatch.
Lockey held an 85-point lead over Dean Nicholls and Paul Skinner but 100 points were still up for grabs over four races. With Lockey driving round the M25 to meet fellow rider Mike Lines to borrow the spare part, Nicholls won the first race and also added the second.
But Lockey and Capewell were back on the grid for the second and managed to secure fourth. Despite tyre issues in the third, they did get past their rivals and win the race, and title.
Lockey, who sat out the final race, said: “We were given a lap of honour at the paddock.”
