SKIPPER Daryl Mitchell transferred his fine Worcestershire form in the LV= County Championship into the NatWest T20 Blast.

He finished the Rapids’ leading run-scorer in 2014 during their run to the quarter-finals, which ended with Saturday’s defeat at Surrey Lions.

Mitchell ended the campaign in the short format of the game with 372 runs at an average of 37.20, including three half-centuries.

He revelled in being promoted to opener after Moeen Ali’s ongoing unavailability because of England commitments.

New Zealander Colin Munro was the second highest scorer with 332 runs, while next in line was newcomer and former Shropshire player Richard Oliver with 279.

On the bowling front, Chris Russell maintained his position as the leading wicket-taker with 16.

Jack Shantry ended only one behind him after finishing with impressive performances against Derbyshire Falcons and Surrey.

Fellow seamer Joe Leach also justified his selection in the latter stages with overall figures of 5-54 from his three matches and an economy rate of just six runs-an-over.

Surrey now meet Warwickshire in the semi-finals at Edgbaston on Saturday, August 23, while Hampshire face Lancashire in the other last-four tie. The final will then follow in Birmingham.
