A YEAR 11 student at Worcester's Nunnery Wood High School has been celebrating long-distance running success.

James Dale, a member of Worcester Athletic Club, has won both the under 16s category in the Great Worcester Race and the 5k Norton fun run.

He ran the under 16 Worcester junior race which was part of the Worcester 10k and half-marathon over 3.2 kilometres in a time of 10 minutes 34 seconds.

Dale's athletics team ran in a club relay race and came ninth overall.

Then the teenager won his age category at the Norton fun run held with St Richard's Hospice.

He won the 5km race in 17.11.

Dale said: “I currently don’t have any long-term goals with my running but I am really enjoying representing my club Worcester and participating in local runs.”
