Haynes drifting to early success

EVESHAM racer Ben Haynes is enjoying success in the UK Open Drift Championship, sitting third on the national leaderboard after three rounds.

The 24-year-old recorded second and third placed finishes in his 1999 Nissan 200sx S14a in the latest two meetings at Birmingham Wheels Raceway.

Haynes managed to claim second in round two despite one of his wheel bolts snapping, which also forced his team to temporarily fix the bent bodywork.

Major repair work denied him the chance to test before the third round but he still managed third place.

Haynes was particularly pleased because he felt he had not performed to his capability on a course which none of the drivers had seen before raceday.

The fourth round takes place on Sunday, July 15.
