EVESHAM became the first team to stop champions Stratford-on-Avon recording a victory this season as they held them to a 2-2 draw in the South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League Premier Division.

Stratford, however, still sit top of the table and are now ahead of Shipston-on-Stour, who moved from fourth to second after beating Alcester 4-0.

In the only other match to survive the weather, Stratford ‘B’ swapped places with fifth-placed Henley-in-Arden following a 3-1 win.

In Division One, Ardencote Manor closed up behind second- placed Bidford-on-Avon by overtaking Littleton with a 3-1 success against Bidford.

Leaders Chipping Campden were without a match but Whitnash drew 2-2 with Inkberrow in a rearranged fixture, while all other games were rained off.

Division Two also fell foul of the elements, with Alcester ‘B’s meeting with Littleton ‘B’ the only match to survive, with the hosts winning 4-0. Alcester also managed a rearranged 2-2 draw against Claverdon ‘B’.

Studley ‘B’ reclaimed their place at the top of Division Three and now lead by five points after they enjoyed a 4- 0 win over bottom side Henley ‘B’.

They then saw off FISSC 3-1 in a re-arranged match, but all other fixtures in the division were washed out.

The only Division Four match played was a rescheduled encounter in which HDA Redditch beat Moretonin- Marsh 4-0, lifting the victors up to third.

In Division Five, Ardencote Manor ‘B’, HDA ‘B’ Redditch and Claverdon ‘C’ have opened a clear gap from fourth-placed Studley ‘C’.

The top three have 27, 22 and 21 points respectively, while Studley, who lost 4-0 to Ardencote ‘B’, have 14.

HDA ‘B’ beat Moreton B 4-0 and Claverdon ‘C’ were awarded a 4-0 walkover after Wildmoor ‘B’ failed to field a side, for which they were fined and deducted two points.

Henley ‘C’ moved up to fifth after beating Bidford-on- Avon ‘B’ 3-1.
