BROADWAY’S Andrew Walters and Steve Aldren moved into the county pairs final with a hard-fought 24-21 win over Kidderminster’s Chester Road.
They go to August’s National Championships in Worthing after beating Richard Payne and Dave Maxwell.
Broadway trailed 13-2 but a change in jack length helped them reduce the deficit. They went into the last end four shots ahead and held on.
The ladies were successful in five of the six county finals at Barbourne, Worcester, and go to Leamington as Worcestershire champions.
Sue Davies and Amy Stanton got them off to a good start in the Champion of Champions and under 25s singles, beating S Simcoe from Lilleshall 21-6 and Sophie Inchley from Gilt Edge 21-12 respectively.
Viv Hall and Yvonne Hopkins saw off M King and L Hine from Malvern Victoria 27-9 in the pairs. In the county singles finals, Davies got the better of Stanton 21-12.
Broadway’s Betty Mansion, Trish Emms and Hopkins lost 19-11 to the Overbury triple skipped by M Norman.
Lynne Bowen, Joan Parfitt, Hall and Davies enjoyed a convincing 25-10 win over Barbourne in the rinks.
The men won their National Two Rink area final against Suffolk Square from Cheltenham 39-35. Aldren’s rink lost 26-8 to John Roach but Walters’ won 31-9.
They face Chandos Park or Chesham for a national place at Worthing.
