TEENAGER Edward Higson won silver for Great Britain at the Harken Topper Class World Championships in the Netherlands, making him the world junior champion.

The 15-year-old, who attends Prince Henry’s High School in Evesham, excelled over six days of racing on the Ijsselmeer, an inland fresh water.

On day one, Higson made his way to the front but the race was abandoned due to insufficient winds across the course.

The winds were strong on days two and three, making conditions tricky for the 160 competitors and four races were completed.

At this stage, the fleet was split into two, gold and silver, with Higson lying third overall in the gold fleet.

Days four and five were excellent sailing days and seven races were completed with Higson claiming the silver and being crowned junior world champion.
