Title hope still alive after win
5:00pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in Sport
PERSHORE kept their slim Worcestershire Cricket League Division One title hopes alive when they defeated Colwall by one wicket.
Batting first, visitors Colwall made a steady start and put 40 on the board before their first loss.
Lee Wilks was then introduced into the attack and wickets fell at regular intervals with only Dan Mckay (52) showing the patience to help Colwall post a competitive total.
Colwall recorded 186-9 from their allotted 50 overs, Wilks finishing with 5-45.
In their reply, Pershore made a poor start, losing their first three wickets for 48 runs. Chris Ridings (28) and Sean Jenkins put together a stand of 70, but after Jenkins’ dismissal for 51, the scoring rate slowed.
Wickets continued to fall, but Luke Dalley hit the final delivery for the winning two runs.
