HARVINGTON secured promotion to Worcestershire League Division Two next season by comprehensively defeating Stourbridge Social by 10 wickets.

But their efforts were not enough for the Division Three title after leaders Cookley also secured maximum points.

Stourbridge won the toss and elected to bat but never looked comfortable against the new ball pairing of Jo Venter and Ben Hawker.

Wickets fell at regular intervals with South African Venter taking 4-18 in 12 overs and Jamie Anderson’s leg spin taking 2-41 in 12.

Medium pacer James Towey took three wickets in one over to complete the innings with Stourbridge out for just 90 in 35 overs.

In reply, Harvington openers Andrew Fisher and Dave Waters were in form as the hosts raced to victory in 14 overs, Fisher unbeaten on 56 and Waters 28 not out.
