Personal bests for all-star pool aces

PERSHORE Swimming Club members recorded 48 new personal best times at the Worksop Dolphins Open Meet in Sheffield.

The club sent an 18-strong team to the event and for many it was their first experience of a 50-metre pool.

Pershore also recorded first and second places in the boys and girls 4x50m 10-year-old relays as well as several individual gold, silver and bronze medals.

Simon Sweatman won three golds in the 10-year-old boys 50m breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke, while William Gearey took silver in the nine-year-old boys 50m butterfly and bronze in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Amy Weston won bronze in the 10-year-old girls 50m backstroke and recorded a pb in the 100m backstroke.

Pershore’s relay teams finished on top of the podium with the boys’ 10-year-old squad winning gold in the 4x50m freestyle and silver in the 4x50m medley.

The girls’ 10-year-old team took silver in the 4x50m medley and bronze in the 4x50m freestyle.

Other swimmers recording pbs were Ben Clarke, William Clarke, Isobel Cumming, Naomi Marsden, Katie Sharratt, Owen Leeks and Josh Sharratt.

Sam Doyle, Megan Annis, Charlotte Downey, Emily Burton, Melissa Radley and Chris Vizard also gained pbs.
