PERSHORE Phoenix have finished the 2012 season top of the British Dragon Boat Racing Association National Standard League over both 200 and 500 metres.

Phoenix have led the league all summer, culminating in another maximum points score in the final round at London’s Royal Albert Docks. New members of all ages and abilities are welcome for a free trial paddle at the club’s base at Arden Sailing Club in Defford. Meanwhile, Phoenix are hosting a charity dragon boat racing day on Sunday at St George’s Field, Pershore.

Harriet Baldwin MP will open the event, in aid of Acorns, at 9.30am and there will also be a traditional Chinese eye-dotting ceremony, lion dancing display, music and stalls.
