ROB South won the Tom Pitcher qualifier on the River Avon at Evesham to book his place at the Wychavon Weekend.

South weighed in 10-14-0 ahead of runner-up Rich Hall (8-3-0) and third-placed Des Nosworth (7-2-0).

  • Evesham Jubilee Club members met up at the Jubilee fishery to contest the annual pairs match.

Fishing the Jubilee pool, the top-placed pair were Martin Smith and Phil Seedhouse with four penalty points and a combined weight of 124lb 14oz.

Two pairs tied on seven points for second place and with a weight countback Derek Hopkins and Rob Butcher (95lb 0oz) beat Doug Smith and John Cox (80lb 0oz).

The fourth-placed pair were Tim Hunt and Jim Gurney with 74lb 2oz and top individuals were Martin Smith (91lb 8oz); Fred Reynolds (69lb 13oz); Tim Hunt (66lb 6oz).

This week members travel to the Worcester Canal, Blanquettes section, with the contest draw at 8.45am.
