Wenham second in GT4 class

TEENAGER Zoe Wenham secured second place in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship GT4 class in scorching heat at Silverstone with one race still left.

While main rivals Team WFR won the race and championship, Kemerton-based Wenham battled hard in the three-hour endurance event in her Century Motorsport Ginetta G50 with team-mate Dom Evans.

“The race at Silverstone was slightly disappointing as we should have been on the pace at the front in qualifying,”

said the former Prince Henry’s High School pupil.

“Although I secured second place, I had hoped to do it in more style — at least with a podium — but it just wasn’t to be. All in all it was a great experience but it would have been nice to come away with a trophy.”

Wenham, 18, has constantly improved throughout the season as she made her sportscars debut.
