EVESHAM held their finals day as the various knock-out competitions came to a conclusion.
Oliver Farrell capped a fantastic year by adding the Duc’s Cup over 36 holes from Tony Fawcett, The Frogmore from Steve Wood and the Canada Cup with his father Les from Andrew Witts and Jim Jones.
Pete Wragg was victorious over Ian Wood in the Rabbit’s Cup which is open to golfers of handicap 19 and above.
The Alan Wood Plate went to club captain Colin Cleary from Nick Webb and the Veterans’ Cup to Barrie Saggers from Ian Facer.
The Byrd Trophy was won by Ian Hughes from Gerry Ricketts and the Ward Bekker by Paul Callaghan and Merv Nedic when one of their opponents failed to show.
At the Raymond Gray Day, the competition format was betterball off a three-quarters handicap.
The winners with 45 points were Paul Callaghan and Stuart Ridley, four clear of the father-and-son team of Jerry and Harry Cain.
Annie Bird and Jean Bevan (30), Cleary and wife Jill (39) and Hywel Jones and Dave Meredith (39) won the women’s, mixed and men’s pairings respectively.
Meanwhile, the improved weather failed to inspire Evesham seniors, who lost away at Bransford 7-0, Puckrup 5-1 and Kidderminster 5½-1½.
Bryan Rogers was Evesham’s only winner at Puckrup with Neil Croft and partnered Dave Hartland to victory at Kidderminster.
