PERSHORE gained the impressive scalp of higherranked Droitwich Spa, winning their friendly 2-1.

Coach Stewart Speake introduced a new playing structure which worked well with a first-half opener from Anthony Handley following brother Graeme’s assist.

Spa drew level in the second period but Karl Lawson bagged the winner from Steve Ridsdale’s cross.

The seconds won 4-0 at Droitwich with goals from Ollie Betteridge (3) and Ali Sanderson. Pershore head to Redditch on Saturday with the seconds at home (1.30pm) and the women hosting Droitwich at Prince Henry’s High School, Evesham (noon).

  • Hayley Whitehouse blasted a hat-trick as Bretforton women beat Redditch 5-2 in a friendly.

Amy Trotman also scored in the first-half but the hosts leaked two goals before Gilly Wright completed the tally with an eye-catching strike.

Training continues every Wednesday night at Evesham High School from 7pm until 8.30pm and new players are welcome. Bret head to Worcester on Saturday.
