TABLE-toppers Moreton Rangers made it three straight wins in Gloucestershire Northern Senior Football League Division Two with a 2-1 triumph at Soudley.

A rare mistake from Rangers’ defence let Soudley in for the first goal of the game through Andy Coleman, ending their run of clean sheets.

But the away team battled hard in the second-half and a brace from striker Ben Shurmer, who has scored four goals in three games, gave Moreton the lead.

The visitors held on for the last 15 minutes to cap a good allround team display as they look to continue their unbeaten run on Saturday at home to Viney St Swithins (3pm).

The second-placed reserve team beat Blockley Sports 4-1 in a Stratford Alliance Division Three derby with goals from Ryan Woskett, Robbie Shurmer and Harry Peters (2).

Meanwhile, Bourton Rovers picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Wotton Rovers in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two.

The hosts created chances from the outset with Connor Glyn’s 20-yard strike putting them ahead.

Bourton failed to close out the game at Rissington Road, however, with Mark Payne struggling to convert on numerous occasions.

The inevitable equaliser came 10 minutes from time after a well-worked corner resulted in a headed goal for Simon Jackson.

Bourton now sit third from bottom in the table and will travel to Bishops Cleeve to face Barometrics on Saturday (3pm).

The reserves crashed 6-2 at Montpellier in Cheltenham Association League Division Four.

  • Winchcombe Town lost 2-1 at home to Cam Bulldogs for the second week running, this time in the Reg Davis Memorial Cup semi-finals. They head to Gala Wilton in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One on Saturday (3pm).
  • Among the Stratford Alliance highlights were a big 6-1 win for Shipston Excelsior at Quinton in Division One and a 3-2 win for Broadway United over FISSC.
