Wanderers off the mark in fine style

BIRDSEYE Sports Evesham Sunday League newcomers Vale Wanderers impressed to record their first Division Four win.

Foxall (3), Edgeworth (2) and Ainsworth (2) scored in a convincing 7-1 success at Stratford United.

Anchor Harriers continued their strong start as Slowinski (2), Nevin, Huggins, Quantrell and Heritage earned a 6-3 victory over Sun Inn with Steger replying twice.

Elmley Castle won 3-1 at Bengeworth with goals from P Smaylen (2) and S Smaylen, while Dragons triumphed 3-1 at Campden thanks to Terry, Sinden and Mullins.

Tewkesbury Town top Division Three after Pettit (3), Jordan and Driscoll scored with Bernado and Begley replying for Ashton.

Ecosamba defeated Pershore High Old Boys 3-2 with Legg, Rahman and Leonard netting and Bower and Taylor on target for the visitors.

Gardeners Arms maintained their perfect start, consigning Offenham Rovers to their first loss of the term.

Mann (2) and Dyke (2) scored in a 4-3 success with Burrows netting a treble for Rovers.

Bear moved level at the top of Division Two with a 3-2 victory at WMK with Piggott, Smith-Daniel and Davies netting. Andy Clements struck twice in Fladbury Athletic’s 3-2 victory at Apperley and Tewkesbury.

AC Olympia recorded a three-goal win over Tesco United. Alderton won 2-1 at Stour Excelsior through Ellis and Reid after Featherstone put the hosts ahead.

In Division One, Broadway United triumphed 7-1 at Eckington with Cooper (2), Jason Horsburgh (2), Craig, Jeffs and Magee netting.

Bretforton Old Boys hit seven at Mickleton Rangers through Dougie Wallace (3), Gayton (2), Brain and Payner, while Defford/Besford United shared two goals with Evesham WMC.

Bredon reached the Evesham Mechanical Services Knock-out Cup second round with a nine-goal win at Ambi Allsports featuring a Lee Diamond hat-trick.

In the second round, Division Three outfit Broadway United Reserves upset Cheltenham Saints 3-2.

Broadway led twice through Francis and Connor Corr only for Saints to level.

With 20 seconds left in extra-time, Corr struck a superb winner.

Lenches Lions progressed against Salford Priors 4-0 with goals from Burtenshaw (2), Evans and Burtoft.

Alcester Town won 3-0 at Ambassador and Badsey Recreation hit five at Pebworth thanks to braces from Pearce and Trotman
