MORETON-in-Marsh racer Joe Newbould has bagged the East Midland Racing Association Formula 600 title.
The 23-year-old went into the Mallory Park finale with a 30-point lead and scrapped for third spot in the opener behind Dylan Roberts and Ryan Oliver.
As the weather turned wet, Michael Tustin won the second contest with Newbould safely in fifth place ahead of main rival Oliver.
In the Superstock 600 class, Newbould went into the final round 24 points down on John Lea and had to be content with runner-up spot despite winning the second race. Meanwhile, Moreton’s Wayne Lockey went to Mallory Park to retain the Phil Dongworth Trophy which he won last year.
After an opening sidecar race win with Steve Wareham, a new set of tyres had no grip in wet conditions and they finished ninth.
