Tustin’s win is not enough

EVESHAM’S Mike Tustin bagged a race victory at Mallory Park but it was not enough to make the East Midland Racing Association Championship Formula 600 top three.

He had a chance of finishing second and started from fifth following qualifying. In the first race, Tustin opened a five-second lead within four laps but had to retire due to mechanical issues.

The problem was sorted out, however, the weather took a turn for the worse and he started the second contest from last on the grid.

But Tustin was in front by lap three and stretched away for a stunning third race win of the season only to finish fourth in the standings, missing out on third by just five points.

He has a non-championship race at Thruxton on Saturday before preparing for next year when he hopes to make the televised Thundersport GB Championship.
