THIRD: James Willis at the Dry Slope Championships.

BROADWAY First School pupil James Willis achieved third place in the All England Ski Bartlett’s Dry Slope Championships under 10s category in Norwich.

The youngster has been on annual skiing holidays with his parents in the Alps on the snow since he was three.

But Willis only took up slalom racing on dry slopes 18 months ago after being spotted by coach Chantelle Goddard-Jones while free skiing at Gloucester with his mother.

Since then, he has trained regularly with the slalom plus racing team and won the Under 10s Winter Race League title at Gloucester over five races.

Willis intends to race at the Anglo Scottish Cup in January in Les Houches, France, and the English Alpine Championships in Bormio, Italy, on snow this winter.
