Michelle's a real iron lady
MICHELLE Parsons finished second in one of the world’s toughest iron distanced triathlons on the Island of Elba off the west coast of Italy.
Racing for Team Tri UK, the event comprised a 3.8km sea swim in the bay at Marina Di Campo before a 180km bike section and a marathon run.
Parsons, from Evesham, emerged from the sea in seventh position in a time of one hour 15 minutes 32 seconds and had risen to second following her bike split of 6.26.46. She was hot on the heels of the leader during the run but ended up half an hour back in an overall time of 11.42.32 after torrential rain flooded parts of the course. Her marathon split time was 3.51.
