Ladies do the double over rivals

First published in Sport

PERSHORE Hockey Club’s Ladies completed a Worcestershire League Division Two double over Worcester thirds, adding a 4-0 win to their 5-1 triumph last month.

Pershore started strongly with Emma Gardner and Nikki Shepherd controlling the play out wide before a run by Mary Small saw her pass to Kate Adams to make it 1-0.

Worcester continued to push but it was the hosts’ back four of Bobbie Handley, Sam Witherford, Amanda Barnes and Gemma Pinney who stopped play in the attacking circle.

There was also an excellent debut for Jenny Wood in partnership with Zoe Nicholson.

Small increased her team’s advantage with two goals, both utilising the efforts of Adams and Gardner. Gardner then played in Adams to smash home a fourth.

Pershore travel to Bournville this weekend.
