PERSHORE Phoenix Dragon Boat Club celebrated a successful season in style with an awards ceremony.

Sponsor Henry Yap, Wing Yip managing director, presented the paddler-of-theyear award to Pauline Young at Worcester Rugby Club.

Chairman Geoff Munson handed the Phoenix special award to ex-chairman Don James, who was also invited to be honorary president, for exceptional service.

The captain’s award went to Pam James, while the commitment trophy was shared by Carla Jones and Mandy Harrison.

Head coach Dave Cole chose Callum Bell for the drumming award and Owen James as most improved paddler. Phoenix topped the Standard League at both 200 metres and 500m with captain Andrew Forrest receiving the trophy from Great Britain senior coach Alan Parfrey. Pershore were also the most improved team.
