Race gets national backing

THE Blackminster halfmarathon has been ranked the fourth most scenic race of 2012 by readers of a magazine.

Runner’s World saluted the best running events of the past year in the United Kingdom, making special mention of the contest in the Evesham area.

More than 18,000 runners voted on around 3,600 races and 98 per cent of those polled revealed they would run the Blackminster halfmarathon again.

The fast, undulating course takes in attractive villages in the Worcestershire countryside, including South Littleton, Cleeve Prior, Bickmarsh and Ullington.

A competition spokesman said recognition by runners made all the effort needed to organise it worthwhile.

The 2013 event is set for Sunday, March 10, with 400 places up for grabs.
