With two sections of 12 teams, the eventual champions took Group ‘A’ by storm, winning their opening game 14-1 and then claiming the next three.

However, Droitwich’s Vines Park also had their eye on topping the group and also bagged four victories only to lose out on shot difference by two.

In Group ‘B’, Pat White’s team from Bredon comfortably won their first three games and then faced Barbourne for a place in the final.

The game finished a tie and Bredon squeezed into the final, while a late surge from Peter Nobes’ team from Chipping Campden saw them edge into the runnersup spot on shot difference.

In the final of 10 ends, it was a close affair to the sixth with Aston Somerville leading 4-1 but a drive from Bredon’s Moz Pullen saw him ditch the jack and pick up four shots to go 5-4 in front.

However, Aston replied immediately with four shots on the next end to move 8-5 ahead and, despite Pullen killing two ends, they ran out winners 9-6.

In the play-off for third place, Vines Park were always in front and comfortably beat Chipping Campden 12-5.
