I have made previous comments about the future of Pershore Library.

Since making those views known the comments I am getting from members of the public are unprecedented.

Everyone is 100 per cent against any move to the civic centre, if anyone thinks this is a good idea I would like to hear from them.

It is the long term future of the library that matters, not some short term fix that will inevitably lead in my view to the demise of a library in Pershore. The size of Pershore warrants a good library facility, with the increase in housing that will be needed in the town it is clear that library use will grow.

The consultation currently ongoing is in my view a complete waste of time unless the council’s and I put that in plural because Wychavon does have an interest in this issue are truly prepared to listen to what the residents are saying.

Coun Gaynor Amphlett, Pershore Town and Wychavon District Council.
