WORCESTER City's reward for progress in the FA Cup is a home tie with an old adversary.

Stafford Rangers will travel to Claines Lane on Wednesday, September 23, a team currently plying its trade two levels higher than City's.

Stafford sat bottom of Northern Premier League Premier Division with just four wins from 33 league matches when Covid-19 curtailed last season.

They have since appointed Jody Banim, a well-travelled striker City fans may remember from the Conference North era.

Ex-City midfielder Tom Thorley is confirmed as part of Banim's Marston Road rebuild.

The tie also means City's trip to Walsall Wood in Midland Football League Premier Division, scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, is postponed.

Ties will be played in the midweek slots week beginning Monday, September 21 with the winners bagging £2,250 in prize money as well as moving to within three victories of the competition proper when clubs from the Football League enter.

Losing clubs get a £750 consolation prize.

City has benefited from £2,569 in prize money so far following wins over Rugby Town and Walsall Wood.

Alvechurch face a similar task when travelling to step six big hitters Shifnal Town, the team that apeared to be running away with the West Midlands (Regional) League title last season.

Bromsgrove Sporting host a derby with league rivals Stratford Town, Evesham United travel to Daventry Town, a club from a different division but the same level, and Westfields host Worksop Town.
